Summer Sipper Four Pack Tasting Notes: Parables in Red Pinot Noir by Team Major Crush

It is an honor to be able to feature one of our very own wine labels: The Parables in Red.

We love wine stories, and this particular Pinot Noir has a beautiful one. It all starts with where this wine was born: The Sonoma Coast. For us, this is one of the most wonderful places in all of California to grow Pinot grapes, and everything about this particular wine is special to us.

Sonoma Coast is one of the American Viticulture Areas (AVA), which means that the terroir of this region is unique to this area and because of this creates a style of wine that is exclusive to this specific region. However, having said this, this AVA does produce diverse styles — and for us, that’s what makes wines from this region so fun to explore!

There’s just something truly special about the soils and the climate in this growing region and as you try more wines from this AVA, we think you’ll see what we mean. The Sonoma Coast always offers up this remarkable “sense of place,” and when you’re sipping on a wine in the summer, taking off on a wandering journey with your senses is always a great way to spend some time!

Some of the most well-known Pinot Noir producers have vineyards in this AVA, such as Hirsch Vineyards, Littorai, Williams Selyem and Faila.

Sonoma Coast, overall, is known for being cooler than more inland regions because of the impact of the cool Pacific Ocean, making ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. These wines tend to be leaner and earthier, but still possess noticeable notes of bright cherry and raspberry.

If you enjoy this 2018 Parables in Red, we’d highly suggest any wine from the producers we listed above, but it’s also easy to find a nice selection at places like Total Wines where they organize the wines by varietal and growing region. For us, a Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast is always going to show you something pretty special, and we hope you’ll branch out and try a few bottles this summer!

Cheers!
